Turning a love for music into a career can mean a lot of different things. Most of us come to music as musicians. We love to play. We love to come up with music and songs. We play at home. We play in bands. We play at church. But music offers a multitudes of careers we might not be aware of. This is why it is vital to study the craft with experts and to find mentors who can open your eyes to the possibilities. The Sweet Spot offers an extensive range of classes and opportunities to learn, grow, and prepare for a life in music.

studio field trip

The studio experience is a unique opportunity to experience what it’s like to put together a recording. Watch the engineer set up microphones and check the quality of sound they capture. Witness overdubbing, the process of adding layers of instruments and vocals one after the other to craft a fully produced piece of music. Discover the tools available to improve the recording of. performance so it sounds as perfect as possible. We welcome groups of up to 15 students for a day in the studio. We work with teachers to come up with the best approach to put students in the driver seat based on their level of experience and musical proficiency.

Mixing

Mixing is the process of blending all the individual tracks in a recording to create a fluid, cohesive, broadcast-ready version of the song.

band camp

Playing music in a group is one of the most fun and rewarding experience. You learn to focus on your own expressive voice while paying attention to every other musician. It’s an intellectually challenging task that rewards self control and a deeply collaborative mindset. We teach students new songs, practicing each instruments separately and together. We then record the song. The camp ends with a live performance to showcase our work. (Ideal for groups of up to 6 students.)

Even the greatest musicians are humans. Today’s pop music requires a level of perfection unattainable without studio magic. That is what post production is. We will show you how to recognize flaws in a performance and how to fix them.
